Did you find the easter egg in Reading Coach yet? If you right-click 🌞 Sunny (the sun at the top), you can unlock the preview of guided practice. After you accept the conditions, you can set up an exercise for your students. Here you can choose whether your students will only be given a time to read or also an imposed text.
Getting started is easy. Once you are in the preview, which by the way is only possible with a faculty account, you can switch between student and teacher at the top.
- Choose teacher.
- Give a title and set a due date.
- Determine the exercise type. Open reading (poor translation...) means that students get to choose what they read in the app. Single passage means they have to read a text entered by you.
- Determine the practice time students must achieve before the due date.
- Share the participation code with your students.
- As a teacher, you can track the following after reading for each student: time of reading, number of passages, words per minute (corrected) and accuracy.
So more than worth testing out. Want to know more? Read Microsoft's support article on how to get started.
